The Coffey still is the world’s first patented continuous still invented by Aeneas Coffey in 1830. When Masataka Taketsuru returned to Japan from Scotland and established Nikka Whisky, he imported two sets of stills and used them to distill spirits that retain flavors originating from ingredients and deliver a distinctive creamy texture. Nikka Coffey Malt is made from 100% malted barley – whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks to enhance the rich maltiness, complexity and a silky texture. On the nose: citrus, pear, pepper, vanilla and white coffee. On the palate: orange, plum, fudge, vanilla and coffee.
